Aamir Khan to play a chess match with grandmaster Vishwanathan Anand

Bollywood actor known for his versatile acting skills, Aamir Khan to battle against the Indian chess grandmaster and former five-times world chess champion Viswanathan Anand in a game of chess. Chess.com-India official twitter handle announced the news.

The announcement read, “The moment you all have been waiting for! Superstar Aamir Khan, an ardent chess lover, will be playing an exhibition match against former world champion Vishy Anand! Please feel free to donate generously to make this event a success.”

This match is actually a charity based and named ‘Checkmate COVID’ to organise fundraisers and help members of the chess community affected by second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Apart from Aamir Khan, other Bollywood stars are also participating in this, which includes the names of Sajid Nadiadwala, Riteish Deshmukh playing half hour simultaneous games against Indian chess grandmaster which is scheduled to take place on June 13.

A fan in comment section shared photos in which ace chess player Aamir Khan has played with chess legend Vishwanathan Anand in 2015 third edition of Maharashtra Chess League. The duo played exhibition match at Hotel Novotel Juhu, Mumbai.

On the professional front, Aamir Khan will be seen next in comedy-drama film Laal Singh Chaddha. The film is directed by Advait Chandan, who previously worked with Aamir in Secret Superstar. Film also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Mona Singh.
