PM Modi pays tribute to late friend Ram Vilas Paswan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to his old friend Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) founder Ram Vilas Paswan on his birth anniversary. The former cabinet minister in the Modi government passed away on October 8, 2020. A few weeks before his death, Paswan had undergone heart surgery and was admitted to the hospital.

Paswan was a nine-time Lok Sabha member and Rajya Sabha MP and served as a minister in governments led by various parties. The last time he served as the Cabinet Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.

PM Modi tweeted a remembrance message that read, “Today is the birth anniversary of my friend, late Ram Vilas Paswan Ji. I miss his presence greatly.”

Modi further added, “He was one of India’s most experienced Parliamentarians and administrators. His contributions to public service and empowering the downtrodden will always be remembered.”

On the other hand, Ram Vilas Paswan’s son Chirag Paswan shared some pictures with his father on Twitter and wrote remembering him, “Happy Birthday Papa Ji आप की बहुत याद आती है।मैं आप को दिए वादे को पूरा करने की पूरी कोशिश कर रहा हूँ।आप जहां कहीं भी हैं मुझे इस कठिन परिस्तिथि में लड़ते देख आप भी दुखी होंगे।आप ही का बेटा हूँ , हार नहीं मानूँगा। मैं जानता हूँ आपका आशीर्वाद हमेशा मेरे साथ है। Love You Papa Ji”

Ram Vilas Paswan was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian, in 2021. Chirag Paswan-led LJP demands the country’s highest civilian award Bharat Ratna for his father. A few days back, Chirag and family members released a book titled Paswan drafted by Ram Vilas Paswan.
